Bible Studies

2018

From 17th October – 28th November, St Stephen’s offered a six-week study on Wednesday evenings.

The theme of the study was ‘Drawing Near to God’.

The study was held from 7.00-8.15pm, concluding with Compline.

Topics covered each evening included:

17th October – Preparing for the Journey

24th October – The Gates of Thanksgiving

7th November – The Court of Praise

14th November – The Altar of Sacrifice

21st November – The Holy Place

28th November – The Holy of Holies

From 11th October through 22nd November, St Stephen’s offered a six-week Bible Study on Wednesday evenings, from 7.00-8.15pm.

The course, called ‘Discovering the Psalms’, was held in the Vestry and focused on the following topics:

 

11th October                                     Psalms of Praise/ Thanksgiving

18th October                                     Psalms of Lament

25th October                                     Psalms ‘for a King’

8th November                                  Psalms of Wisdom

 15th November                                Psalms of Cursing

22nd November                                Psalms of Confidence and Trust

The studies lasted for one hour and concluded with the Office of Compline.

From 7th June through 12th July, St Stephen’s offered a six-week Bible Study on Wednesday evenings, from 7.00-8.15pm.

The course, called ‘People of the Creed’, was held in the Vestry and focused on the following topics:

 

7th June – ‘What are the Creeds?’

14th June – ‘God as Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit’

21st June – ‘Fully God and fully human’

28th June – ‘Crucified, risen and ascended’

5th July – ‘I believe in the Holy Spirit’

12th July – ‘One holy, catholic and apostolic Church’.

 

The studies lasted for one hour and concluded with the Office of Compline.

 

2016

In October and November 2016, Fr John Moore and Fr Marc Trickey led a weekly Bible study on ‘The hard sayings of Jesus’.
