God of God, light of light

December 29, 2020 by John Moore

Thanks to the creativity of Nicky Jee, when members of St Stephen’s arrived for the Midnight Mass of Christmas Eve, they found the church entrance ablaze with light and decorated with lovely poinsettias of the season.

In a way, the church entrance was an illustration of the second verse of ‘O Come all ye faithful’:

‘God of God, light of light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God, begotten, not created:
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.’
